WHY YOU SHOULD SUBMIT YOUR MUSIC

As an artist you write, record, perform, book, and promote your performances. But outside of that you should also be promoting your music to gain fans and exposure. Terrestrial radio has always been number one for years, but today there are thousands of online radio stations and many ways for you to submit and have your music heard. Mostly all online stations stream music non-stop and quite a few play new music from Independent Artists. Not only do these stations have loyal listeners, they can have your music heard by many and expand your audience vastly; which will ultimately cover more ground than just your DJs, website, or social media, on their own. For years terrestrial radio was the best and often only way to be heard by the masses, which required costly mass production and distribution. However, now you have Online Radio!

You as an artist can make money from having your music broadcast on Internet Radio. After first registering your music through one of the PROs (Performance Rights Organizations), ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or SOCAN/Re:SOUND (Canada), PPL and PRS (U.K). We as an Online Station are also expected to get proper licensing through these organizations before playing any music. Once your music is played the station is supposed to report that it has been played to the PROs and at some point, the PROs should then send you the artist a check for your royalty. Although these checks may be small in amount, if you are able to get plenty of songs into rotation or played on several stations you may begin seeing these royalties pay off.

The more stations and DJs you submit your music to and connect with, the more opportunities will open up. Resulting in booking shows or local venues quite possibly. Not only are you able to create more opportunities and revenue for yourself by submitting your music but with Online airplay you gain more credibility.

HOW IT WORKS: RATATION & RADIO PLAY

Here at AirWave 1&9, we must remain legal and compliant by maintaining licensing through one of the PROs (Performance Rights Organizations), ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or SOCAN/Re:SOUND (Canada), PPL and PRS (U.K). These PROs also have reciprocal agreements with International PROs, so it is also legal for foreign music to be played on our station. Any music licensing that we are able to get within other countries, we will try to acquire as well. Through these licenses, Sound Exchange is also covered. We must continue to remain legal in order to enjoy the artists and music they create but to also support these creators and the songs they write and perform. Our focus is not only to enjoy your music but to make sure that you are compensated for your work. And, as long as the proper responsibilities are met on your end, If we Play it, the PROs Pay it!

In order to do so, and for the artists to get paid, we need the most accurate metadata possible so thar you get paid and we stay legal. All music played will be compiled and submitted to Sound Exchange.

So with all of that mentioned, we need from you:

  • TRACK TITLE

  • ARTIST NAME

  • ALBUM NAME

  • Specific Permission from the individual artist(s) to play your music. (Must be emailed or written)

  • ALBUM or COVER ART to be displayed

  • Along with the intended TRACK

Without this information your track will be uploaded and labeled “Untitled Artist” “Untitled Album” and you might not receive credit for song played.

Keep in mind that songs from particular artist or album can only be played a maximum of 4 times in a 3 hours span.

If you are “Truly Independent” and have not submitted material to a record label or performance rights organization to be covered by or represented by them, your music can still be played, however, you can not be payed through royalties. *We must in turn receive direct email or written permission from the artist permitting use of your track/tracks to be played on our station. You are with knowledge allowing AirWave 1&9 to play you music without expectation of royalty compensation. ALL commercially produced music is 99.9% covered.

Airing music from Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, Apple Music, or any other streaming platform is not possible due to their terms of service, since those files are not owned.

*PLEASE SUMBIT MUSIC WITH ACCURATE METADATA INSERTED SO THAT, ARIST NAME, SONG TITLE, AND ALBUM ARE DISPLAYED.
